This is one of the best local food places in town. The Philly cheesesteak is the best I've ever had in Charlottesville. It's more of a laid back place but the staff is awesome. Every thing I've ordered here has been delicious

I ate there again and was greeted by Carolyn who was all smiles and gave this place life. I always thought this place had some really good burgers so I decided to put my last 2 horrible experiences to the side and give them a try. Awesome service and great food. Carolyn also invited me to come back and gave me a menu. She was very worthy of the tip I left. That's recovery service!

This place needs more good reviews - I do not leave reviews often as I am not plugged into yelp, foodie scenes! or take a lot flash photography of my meals. This is the new incarnation of Big Jim's. In the same location with the same menu and has been open for years now.
Outstanding juicy burgers, with hand made beef patties. Made properly, with the cheese between the bun and the meat, not between the meat and lettuce/tomato. Great crisp fries in a generous portion. If compared to Riverside Lunch, the burgers here are a little less greasy and thicker, but not overly so. More of an old pub feel than diner like riverside.
I love Riverside too. It's astounding to read the lower rated reviews, this place is nothing like Burger King. Of course they are racist since the one black reviewer got mediocre service. I see a number of African Americans come in, eating in or take out, and occasionally a diverse table of students. This is a highly recommended place for a real home made burger in a somewhat historic setting in the way of carrying from Big Jim's food and setting. It is a humble piece of Charlottesville burger history. -

Awesome! Stopped in on our way to a concert at UVA. Quiet place with a local crowd that made us feel welcome immediately. Bar food was great, hot and more than we could eat. Thank you for being kind to the folks in the blue jeep!

Great food. Fair prices. Portions are off the chain. . Service is excellent. Basically, if you don't like Brothers Bar and Grill then #### YOU. lol Great place, I've enjoyed everything I've tried from the menu. My fave is The Big Burger with a platter of wedges and (possibly, just don't tell my wife) the best Mac salad in town!
